In recent days, there have been misguided criticisms of this plan that echo the failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis...This is a good start, and the op-ed is well worth reading. The only problem I have with the column is that it does not directly respond to the Republican charge that stimulus = pork. The people who lead us into this crisis are now squealing that it's the other guys who are pigs. Not so.
Obama or his surrogates need to call this into question over and over again. They need to ask why Republicans think bankers deserve jobs and bailouts, but the people sodding the National Mall don't. In case anyone has forgotten, the House tossed plans to sod the mall out of the stimulus bill because the GOP cried pork.
