As a former reporter for a McClatchy (then Knight-Ridder) newspaper, I can't convey how sad this makes me feel: New York Stock Exchange threatens to de-list McClatchy Newspapers. I got out of newspapers before the industry crashed, but I still believe we need strong newspaper-style journalism. It doesn't have to be in print, but there has to be a business model that will make this kind of in-depth journalism work, or this democracy of ours will be in deep, deep trouble.
