The Train Wreck

This and this are like watching a train wreck in slow motion. O.M.G. The problem is that we're on the train. Salon sums up the situation clearly.

Leaving aside the fact that the more the United States gets to be like Cuba, the better Paul Krugman seems to like it, what I want to know is:
If the bailout was such a bad idea, why did 140 Democrats vote for it? And if it was such a good idea, why did 90 Democrats vote against it?
