A sinking ship?

Princeton economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is now comparing the news from Wall Street to the Titanic. This is not making me feel better.

Obama has regained his drop in the polls after the Palin surge (pun intended) which is about as successful as the one in Iraq.

Look for an "October surprise" from the Bush regime, maybe a flash bombing of Iran, or one too many intervention into Pakistan triggering a civil war.

King George has many cards to throw out before November.

Last night, Rep. Barney Franks leaked on Charlie Rose Show that Bernake and Paulson bragged that they had "800 billion" to spend on Wall Street gas bags.

Is it enough to get by till November? I think not.

Depends on how many of Mrs. Palin's private email accounts they can hack into, I guess.

Uncle Pavian... Wow! This is silver medal level chaff, but surely you can get more irrelevant than this? Go for the gold, fella!

FYI, the purpose of chaff is to deflect the reader away from the real issue. Dictionary.com defines "chaff" as "strips of metal foil dropped by an aircraft to confuse enemy radar by creating false blips."

Don't be fooled by the false blip.

Michael, the news on the economy just keeps getting worse and worse. The idea of an "October surprise" doesn't make me any more cheerful. Let's hope your paranoia is unfounded, but if the last seven years has taught us anything, it's that paranoia may not be so crazy after all.

Well, I suppose I could have resurrected the old canard about "former Enron advisor Paul Krugman", but I do try to stay a little bit current.
And, since I knew you weren't likely to raise the issue of the pilfered emails (just as you had to be prodded into allowing that KCTV had crossed some kind of line by following Phill Kline's daughter and buzzing his house with their traffic helicopter), I thought I'd raise the topic myself.
Glad you got back in one piece, though.

Ahhhh, I can always count on my "uncle" to be as, ah, "diverting" as possible. I hereby confer upon you the Gold Medal for Chaff. Wow.

Y'know, that last post really wasn't worded as clearly as I'd have liked. KCTV, of course, was using an unmarked SUV to follow young Ms. Kline around. They used the helicopter to fly over her family house in Topeka.

Flatulant chaff flashing out of the overpriced bomber's tail.

God sent Ike to warn us about "the military industrial complex" - did we listen, hell no!

God sent Ike again, as a hurricane, to warn us about climate change - did we listen, hell no!

God sent the unfolding Great Depression to warn us about unbridled "free market" imperialism - are we listening?

As former Delta special force soldier, Stan Goff, wrote this week 'we are the new Rome.'

I can only add that now things happen, both bad and good, at hyperspeed in the 21st century.

Interesting theory about Hurricane Ike, michael caddell. But if God was punishing the United States to warn us about the military-industrial complex and global warming, what was He warning Cuba about when He sent the same hurricane there first?
